Dr. Sin U Lam (she/her) is an Assis­tant Pro­fes­sor in Coun­sel­ing Psy­chol­o­gy. She com­plet­ed her PhD in Coun­sel­ing Psy­chol­o­gy from the Uni­ver­si­ty of Wisconsin–Madison and her MA in Coun­sel­ing from North­west­ern University.

Sin U’s work cen­ters on reduc­ing men­tal health dis­par­i­ties for cul­tur­al­ly and lin­guis­ti­cal­ly mar­gin­al­ized com­mu­ni­ties. Her research inter­ests encom­pass three main areas: (a) exam­in­ing the applic­a­bil­i­ty and effec­tive­ness of mind­ful­ness-based inter­ven­tions; (b) advanc­ing mul­ti­lin­gual psy­chother­a­py and train­ing prac­tices to bet­ter serve lin­guis­ti­cal­ly mar­gin­al­ized com­mu­ni­ties; and © fos­ter­ing the inter­na­tion­al­iza­tion of coun­sel­ing psychology.

Sin U has received clin­i­cal train­ing across a vari­ety of set­tings, includ­ing her pre-doc­tor­al intern­ship at Duke Uni­ver­si­ty Med­ical Cen­ter and practicum expe­ri­ences in uni­ver­si­ty coun­sel­ing cen­ters, VA hos­pi­tals, and com­mu­ni­ty clinics.
