Dr. Niki­ta McCree com­plet­ed her Ph.D. in Spe­cial Edu­ca­tion with an empha­sis in Behav­ior dis­or­ders at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Mis­souri. Pri­or to this, Niki­ta worked as a Guid­ance coun­selor with­in the pri­ma­ry school sys­tem of Trinidad and Toba­go. There she pro­vid­ed aca­d­e­m­ic, career and social and emo­tion­al guid­ance and devel­op­ment to more than 300 stu­dents in K‑12 class­rooms. Cur­rent­ly, Niki­ta is a Post­doc­tor­al Fel­low of the Uni­ver­si­ty of Mis­souri Research Excel­lence Pro­gram in the Edu­ca­tion, School, and Coun­sel­ing Psy­chol­o­gy (ESCP) depart­ment at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Mis­souri. Nikita’s pas­sion for serv­ing has result­ed in her cur­rent posi­tions as Vice Pres­i­dent of the Uni­ver­si­ty Mis­souri Post­doc­tor­al Asso­ci­a­tion (MUPA) and the found­ing Pres­i­dent of the Uni­ver­si­ty of Mis­souri Black Post­doc­tor­al Asso­ci­a­tion (MBPA). Nikita’s research inter­ests include improv­ing the aca­d­e­m­ic and behav­ioral out­comes for stu­dents with emo­tion­al behav­ior dis­or­ders, teacher prepa­ra­tion, and cul­tur­al­ly respon­sive pedagogy.
