The Missouri Prevention Science Institute firmly and unequivocally states that Black Lives Matter. As Mental health, social work, and educational scholars, we acknowledge the toll that racial injustices have inflicted on the community. We recognize that scholarly work has a history of being exploitative in nature and as a result, we commit to integrating principles of community-based participatory research to ensure this cycle comes to an end. We align our scholarly efforts to uplift and empower the communities and individuals we partner with by amplifying their voices. We are committed to providing culturally responsive support and to continual growth within our own organizations. Systemic racism and social injustice have no place here. We at the Missouri Prevention Science Institute stand with the support the Black community and commit to doing the work that is needed today and every day to end racism in all forms.
